Goathland is a small village in the midst of the North York Moors, made famous as being the fictional "Aidensfield" - setting for the popular TV series "Heartbeat".
Nearby attractions include the waterfall of Mallyan Spout, the valley of Wheeldale (which is traversed by a Roman road), Beck Hole and the North York Moors Railway, with the railway station having been used for that of "Hogsmeade" in the big screen version of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".
